SARAH GAUGLER
Interdisciplinary Fine Artist

Sarah Gaugler is a Filipino-American, formally trained, contemporary, interdisciplinary fine artist based in New York City. Best known for her work in fine line illustration, surrealism and cross-hatching. She has gained fame by expressing her art as a prestigious world renowned tattoo artist, owner of Snow Tattoo New York, and was featured in numerous notable publications including the New York Times. She is also known for her vocal talents as the lead singer of the electronic rock duo band Turbo Goth.

Orphaned at a young age after losing her mother to cancer and father to suicide, she was displaced from her home in America and forced to grow up in an adverse home environment in the Philippines. She honed her skills as an artist by escaping the environment around her and immersing herself in her art.

Gaugler majored in Advertising at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. She graduated with honors receiving a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Design. She quickly made her mark in the Filipino design industry winning design awards for her album artworks, illustrations, and design for popular bands known in the Philippines.

Gaugler's major artworks have been exhibited in the Philippines and featured in galleries such as The Crucible Gallery, Gallery Big, Gallery 9, Rockwell, and Robinson’s Galleria. In her first solo show in 2011 called 'Dead Lines and Tattoo Designs' she explored how the forces of beauty and death run parallel with each other. Portraits and actual tattoo designs of otherworldly beings, that represented the people in her daily encounters, comprised the collection.

After the success of her first show, it paved the way for her first major exhibition in 2012. Named 'Condemnant Quod Non Intellegunt' translated to 'They Condemn What They Do Not Understand' was featured at The Crucible Gallery, Megamall in Manila, Philippines. The exhibit focused on reimagined religious icons, using her interpretation of Christian iconography in a 12 peice collection.

Gaugler approaches her art with love and passion and continues to evolve in her expression of her emotions and in the mediums she uses. She is currently working on new major pieces of art for her first New York exhibition in 2019.
